A glycol based, water soluble tyre sealant that when professionally installed will permanently protect tyres against punctures and air loss. Additional benefits include extending the life of tyres and improving fuel efficiency
-
Formula X formulation is THIXOTROPIC, one of our distinct feature that allows Formula X to withstand heat and the shear forces created within a rotating Tyre. The thixotropic suspension has the ability to stretch and recover under mild to severe exposure of the adverse forces and continuously clings to the inner surface of the Tyre /wheel. This ability to evenly coat the inner surface against adverse conditions and centrifugal force is the reason that Formula X Gelwill not adversely affect a balanced Tyre /wheel and will not lose the ability to provide protection for the tread life of the Tyre.
-
Before installation in a tyre, if it is kept in an air tight container, it remains unchanged for a very long period of time. Once installed in a tyre, it remains for the legal life of the tyre as recommended by the manufacturer.
-
Formula X is used extensively in Scandinavia and Australia where temperatures reach plus and minus 45 degrees. And it is also used in Africa which has a very hot climate.
-
Over the years, because of Formula X International Ltd’s continued research and development efforts, the proprietary formulation is now a MONO PROPYLENE GLYCOL BASED WATER SOLUBLE TYRE SEALANT mixed with more than 15 other non-toxic ingredients – each adding different values and benefits to the core functionality of puncture sealing – making it one of the most advanced sealants in the world.
-
Formula X has undergone stringent laboratory testing by the chemical and mechanical engineering department of the Mining Safety Technology Centre, NSW, and Australia. It was also tested by Warrington Fire Research in the UK and conformed to the UK Naval Engineering standard 02-713(NES713). The tests were to confirm the suitability and safety of Formula X Sealants for use in underground mining operations in Australia where the safety requirements are considered to be the highest in the world. The tests confirmed that the toxicity and combustion levels of the product meet all of the stipulated safety requirements. Formula X is also an ISO 9001 certified company. Formula X INDIA had submitted the sealant for tests at the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI-Pune), an esteemed research and testing facility under the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Govt. of India. Formula X came out successful in all the tests – tyre pressure retention test, endurance tests and load tests. Formula X is the FIRST and ONLY Sealant in INDIA to be tested successfully by ARAI.

Formula X technicians have undergone proper training in all aspects of Formula X. They carry out the pre-installation checks on vehicles before Formula X is filled to ensure the tyres are suitable for Formula X installation. After the inspection, the correct gel quantity is filled in the tyres strictly as per the installation process. All this is done better by a trained technician.
-
Yes, Formula X gel actually gives extra benefits as compared to Nitrogen, e.g. Cooler running, Air retention and Puncture resistance. Formula X and Nitrogen both are inert and work very well with each other.
-
Normal air pressure which is recommended by the tyre manufacturers.
-
No. It is advised to fill in new or relatively new tyres with visible tread depth. For the best results from Formula X, the tread depth should be atleast 3mm.
-
Formula X should not be installed in tyres which have air pressure monitoring sensors (eg; those present in vehicles like XUV 500, some models of Scorpio, etc). The sensor will not allow Formula X gel to flow freely into the tyre when installing. If the sealant is pushed hard with pressure into the tyre, it may splash on the side walls leading to an uneven coating inside. This will cause wobbling and other issues.
-
Yes, water droplets/moisture reduce puncture sealing efficiency as our gel is completely water soluble.
-
Like any other substance, contact with atmospheric conditions/sunlight can cause gradual drying of Formula X Gel. However it doesn’t dry inside the tyre chamber.
-
Not recommended. The gel quantity filled in a tyre is determined by the tyre specs. The gel coats the inner of the tyre and fills up rubber pores. So when you reuse/transfer from one tyre to another, there will be some loss of gel. The new tyre will have less gel quantity than required and may not form a protective layer fully inside, which is necessary for puncture sealing.
-
No. The repair is designed to be flexible to allow it to flex with the tyre.
-
Whether it is a 2 wheeler or 4 wheeler, immediately after installing Formula X, the vehicle has to be driven for 10 kms at a speed not exceeding 40 kmph. This procedure ensures the Formula X sealant gets coated evenly in about 2mm thickness in the inner of the tread area of the tyre. Once its coated evenly, then the Thixotropic property of Formula X ensures it stays coated that way except for any exceptional disturbance to the tyre. This procedure is Mandatory and important for Formula X to function effectively and this will be handled by the Formula X Service Person.
-
The tyre sealant which can be used in any tubeless pneumatic tyre is usually installed through the valve stem after removal of the valve core. Tyre rotation coats the sealant evenly in about 2mm thickness around the inner surface of the tyre covering 80% of tread area. When a puncture occurs, the air inside the tyre pushes the sealant surrounding the puncture area into the wound, instantly repairing the puncture from within by forming a flexible rubber plug.
-
The tyre sealant which can be used in any tubeless pnFormula X permanently protects any perforating objects up to 6 mm in cars and up to 3 mm in two wheelers in the tread area of the tyre on road. Tread area is the contact area of the tyre to the road and is 80% of the section width of the tyre. Please remember Formula X doesn’t guarantee any puncture protection in the sidewall areas / shoulder area crown areas of the tyre in passenger car radials due to the tyres inner curvature.
-
No. The repair is designed to be flexible to allow it to flex with the tyre.
-
Formula X will seal a puncture/wound upto a hole size of 3mm in case of 2 wheeler , 6 mm in case of 4 Wheeler / Cars, 12 mm in case of commercial vehicles / Off the road tyres.
-
Yes, but Formula X IS A “VACCINE†NOT A “MEDICINEâ€.Formula X isnot developed to be used as a patch after the puncture.
-
No, but try to remove it as soon as possible, because it will damage the rubber elasticity at that particular portion. Rubber recovery is very essential for puncture sealing.
-
If the puncturing object is a screw, please remember to unscrew it slowly. Pulling it off may damage steel belts in the tyre. If the puncturing object has been in the tyre for a long time, it may take some time for the puncture cavity to close.
-
Rubber recovery within a Tyre is very important in conjunction with Formula X. When a Tyre is punctured, the rubber is forced open by the penetrating object. The wound is actually much smaller than the puncturing object. Rubber has memory and it will recover to its previous shape after being subjected to adverse conditions or stress factors. When the penetrating object is removed, the rubber recovers and the wound closes (a Tyre that is old, worn out and/or dry rotted will have little or no rubber recovery and hence we make sure we do not treat such tyres with Formula X. A penetrating object left in a Tyre for any extended period of time causes the rubber to temporarily lose its ability to recover. After removingthe puncturing object, it is recommended to immediately flex the Tyre to reactivate the rubber’s memory. As the wound closes, Formula X will be held in place and will create a permanent repair/clot.
-
When a tyre is running at its correct pressure it creates less rolling resistance. Less rolling resistance means less drag and pressure on the engine, resulting in lower fuel requirement.
-
Formula X gel has Rust Inhibiting compounds mixed in it. These protect the steel belts / rims from rusting .
-
Formula X coats and clings to the inner tread area due to its THIXOTRPOIC nature, conditioning the inner surface, eliminating/reducing porosity and bead leaks.
-
People often ask “If Formula X cures from exposure to outside air, then why doesn’t it cure by the air inside of the Tyre?†As the vehicle is driven and the temperature of the Tyre increases, a portion of the liquid base evaporates within the Tyres inner air cavity, as the Tyre cools, the liquid condensates back into the formula. The inside air actually becomes part of the system. The sealed air chamber prevents outside air from entering or inside air from escaping.Constant air pressure re-settings are not required.
-
During the manufacturing of the tread area (it is a different process to the manufacture of sidewalls) there are thousands of microscopic holes in the rubber. These holes are known as porosity leaks and they are present in all tyres. Formula X seals porosity leaks..
-
It’s the air that carries the load, not the Tyre. When Tyres are inflated to the recommended air pressures, the cord body is able to do its job of flexing without injury. When Tyres are over-inflated or underinflated, satisfactory service cannot be obtained. Premature Tyre failure is eminent.
The majority of premature Tyre failure, in both new and retreaded Tyres is a result of improper air pressure maintenance. Under-Inflation creates excessive heat, delamination, tread separations, blowouts and Zipper ruptures. (Blowouts)
Every time the Tyre is driven underinflated the hidden internal damage increases. The damage accumulates until the Tyre eventually disintegrates.
Underinflation is the #1 cause of Zipper ruptures (blowouts) and Formula X prevents underinflation.
-
Any pneumatic tyre.
-
No, due to the Thixsotropic Property of Formula X gel , it will self-align inside the tyre.Thixsotropic properties also prevent Formula X from migrating to the tread area at high speeds.
-
Formula X contains corrosion and rust inhibitors and will not damage the rim or steel belt within the tyre.
-
As Formula X is chemically inert and water soluble it does not affect the components of the tyre and will not affect the manufacturer’s warranty.
-
When professionally installed, it doesn’t cause any imbalance.
-
No. After installation, the gel forms a uniform protective layer in the inner of the tyre and this does not create any rotation problems for the tyre or affect it in any other manner.
-
No.
-
No, It is recommended to use it in fresh casing only. However it does work on retreaded tyres too.
-
Yes, after removing Formula X gel from tyre and washing it out completely with water. Contact our Technical Team for more details.

Tyres are designed and built to provide thousands of kilometers of service.
For effective use of tyres with Formula X, the following care should be taken:
1.Regular Tyre Inflation
2.Proper Vehicle Loading
3.Regular Inspection of your tyres, suspension bearings, wheel alignment.
4.Good Driving Habits
Properly inflated tyres wear longer, save fuel and help prevent accidents.
Check your tyres pressure regularly and as per tyre manufacturer’s recommendations. (Tyre Pressure should be checked when tyres are cold)
You can obtain optimum wear from tyres by avoiding hard cornering and abrupt starts and stops. Be alert and avoid potholes and debris.
Inspect your tyres regularly for any perforating objects or any other damage. Remove any stones, glasses, metal, nails wedged in the tyre tread as these may work their way deeper into the tyre and cause punctures.
Check for signs of uneven wear patterns as this may be caused by improper inflations, misalignments or loose suspension bearings etc.Wheel Alignment should be done once in 3 months or 3000 kms
-
After Installing Formula X, if there is any air loss from the tyre, initially check the tyre and look for any puncturing object. If the puncturing object is found and is in the 80% tread area of the tyre (Formula X Warranty Cover area), remove the object carefully (instruction under Punctures section) and drive your vehicle for about 500meters – 1km. This should seal the puncture immediately.
If the wound is not sealed or the air loss continues, this is an indication that there is an insufficient amount of Formula X in the Tyre, or the Tyre may have internal damage. Re-enter the wound with a pointed object (like ice pick) and move it back and forth. As it is extracted, it will draw Formula X through the wound. If no Formula X can be drawn through the wound, then definitely there is not enough sealant in the Tyre to create a coating and provide a reserve. Perhaps not enough Formula X was initially installed or the Tyre has received numerous punctures or a dangerous puncture that has left an insufficient amount of Formula X in the Tyre.
If no puncturing object is found in the tyre, then the air leak may be happening through the valve core if its damaged. Or through a tyrebeeding / rim damage. These problems cannot be rectified by Formula X and will not come under Formula X’s Warranty.
-
Formula X may not be effective if size of puncture woundis more than 6mm (for Cars) or 3mm (for 2wheelers). Air and Formula X will bleed out of a wound, only if the wound is too large or the puncturing object has sufficiently damaged the Tyres inner structure, this is a potentially dangerous Tyre. Dismount the Tyre and inspect, do not plug or repair by any external method! The bleeding effect is a major proprietary function of Formula X, providing an unparalleled safety factor.
-
Air migration in a Tyre casing is a malignant problem and to some extent is present in all Tyres.
Due to the various locations of air migration, it may take more than 3 to 5 miles of driving for Formula X to eliminate the problem air leaks. If air migration persists, increase air pressure 10% to 15% (do not exceed maximum allowable Tyre pressure as recommended by the Tyre manufacturer) and drive vehicle, then reduce air pressure to normal setting. By increasing air pressure, it opens the pores and forces Formula X into the problem area, eliminating air migration.
-
Formula Xwarranty is for the tread area of the Tyre only. The tread area has sufficient rubber and plies for adequate flexing and recovery. Sidewall construction is extremely thin, especially in radial Tyres. Formula X is capable of providing minor repairs to the sidewall/crown areas. But due to vast variance in Tyre manufacturing and subsequent wounds that may severely damage the Tyres structural integrity, Formula X does not consider sidewall/crown repairs as positive repairs.
-
If a Tyre serviced with Formula X receives major damage, it cannot hold air pressure. Formula X is designed to slowly release air pressure, providing a safety factor that is not found in any Tyre. Regardless of how small or how large the wound may be, Formula X cannot mask or hide a dangerous wound. Depending on the severity of the wound, Formula X and air will bleed, until all of the air and Formula X have been exhausted. This safety feature assists the driver in executing a controlled and safe stop. Formula X is used in emergency and law enforcement vehicles primarily for safety.
-
If air will not go into the Tyre, check the valve core, it may be clogged. This will occur if air pressure was checked without first clearing the Formula X from the valve stem, or if there is a defective valve core.
If the valve core is known to be in good condition, then simply rinse it with water and reinstall. It may be more cost effective to replace a valve core.
-
If the wobbling occurs at the speed exceeding 80-90kmph, fluctuate the speed from 60 kmph to 100kmph for atleast 3-4 times. This procedure will ensure the wobbling stops.
If the wobbling problem still persists, check the Bearing/Axle of the wheel. If the vehicle has had Axle /Bearing problems before Formula X Installation, it shows up gradually (there will not be wobbling issues immediately) causing wear and tear in one side of the tyre as the vehicle runs. In a vehicle with the same problem, but with Formula X Installation, the tyre starts to wobble at certain speed since Formula X gel that is installed in the tyre adds to the tyre weight and accentuates the problem. In this case Axle/Bearing problems must be checked and corrected.
Wobbling can also happen if the proper quantity is not filled for that particular tyre size. Check with the Formula X dealer or write to the company to cross check if required.
